The blues have flown the coop so to speak and this time of year when they leave I am always sad…I will not see them in my backyard until March or so. Since having been educated and entranced by the blues, I find myself seeing them frequently on the telephone wires around the area. They are recognizable to me now, having witnessed them be parents – where just 2 years ago I would have most likely driven by the telephone wires with nary a glance. I find it enjoyable that my children will spot them on the wires as well, ‘look mommy there is a blue’. There is something to passing down this bit of nature knowledge.
